A guide to laser Resurfacing
Our Lynton ResurFACE is an advanced fractional laser treatment designed to smooth skin texture, reduce scars and boost collagen production. The decide targets tiny sections of the skin with laser light, creating controlled damage in the deeper layers of the skin. Healthy surrounding skin helps the body heal quickly while producing fresh collagen.
How does laser treatment work?
The laser is a wavelength of light that targets water within the skin, quickly heating up tiny specs causing them to vaporise. This clever technology means there is very limited spread of the heat to other areas, reducing downtime and improving comfort. The treatment feels like a hot tapping sensation as the device is moved along the skin. It treats the skin in a tiny grid pattern, leaving health skin around each dot of treated skin, speeding up recovery and boosting collagen production.
What can laser be used to treat?
Laser can be used to treat scarring, fine lines and stretch marks, improving skin quality and smoothness.
What happens during a laser appointment?
The skin will be cleaned prior to treatment before it is thoroughly dried. The handpiece will be placed against the skin, during which you may notice a small flash of light each time the laser is activated. It will feel hot on the skin during treatment before a soothing ointment is applied to cool the skin down. You will also have SPF applied before the end of your appointment.
How soon before I see the results from laser?
After the first week your skin will start to look smoother and fresher, with results improving for weeks to months after treatment.
How long do laser treatments last?
We recommend a maintenance session once every 3-6 months, depending on the start point and treatment goals.
Who can have laser treatment?
Most people are safe to have this treatment, however we would generally not treat patients with any of the following:
- Active infection or inflammation in the area
- Active coldsores
- Recent sun exposure, sunburn or active tan
- Pregnancy
- Known poor wound healing including poorly controlled diabetes or significant immunosuppression
- Keloid/hypertrophic scarring
- Previous radiotherapy to the treatment area

What should I do before laser treatment?
It is essential to avoid any form of tanning (real or fake) within 4 weeks of IPL treatment either side. At your consultation any other specific advice will be given to you ahead of treatment.
What should I do after laser treatment?
Keep your skin very clean, avoid sun exposure during the full course of treatment and ensure you are applying SPF50 daily. For the first few days post treatment, your clinician might advise specific post procedure products. Do not pick or scrub at any dry areas or scabs post procedure as this may increase the risk of scarring or pigmentation issues.
Are laser treatment safe?
Laser treatments are considered to be very safe. The risks of treatment will be discussed with you during in detail during your initial consultation.
What should I expect after laser treatment?
It is normal for your skin to feel like it has been sunburnt for a few days post treatment. Light skin peeling and a ‘bronzed’ look can last for around 7 days. You must wear SPF50 after laser treatment. You are likely to see a grid pattern or little dots and squares on the skin for the first week after treatment. This is normal.
How much does laser cost?
From £75 for a small treatment area such as the top of the lip. For the full face, neck and chest it is from £475 per session. We will advise you of the costs specific to your recommended treatment plan during your initial consultation
